One of my favorite parts of teaching is discovering stories which will enthrall my children, leading them to dive into an exploration of a new culture or a new idea about the mysteries hidden in each person, and emerge with personal insight and truth. Below are links to the booklists I’ve created for my own children, students, and friends to enhance and deepen their studies of ancient times. (And – to add some fun to our school days!)

This booklist is an extensive one I compiled to correlate with my children’s work in their Catholic Schoolhouse chapter. Weekly picks for each subject are included, with an emphasis on picture books.

Here are my favorite picks to connect to your Catholic Schoolhouse or other co-op studies! These are the picture books I most highly recommend, to maximize your time if you have lots of little ones or want to simply purchase a few titles for the year.

This list is based on the book-a-week method I created in my own homeschool. Each child found a surprise book on the mantle on Monday morning! Here, I provide 1-2 suggested titles for your intermediate reader (late elementary – middle school).

This booklist is tailored for families using the Story of Civilization course for Ancient History. Suggested historical fiction, literary and historical additions, family read-alouds, and fun movie picks are included.

Wondering how you can bring it all together with students of different ages? Here is a table showing how to connect your symposium/morning basket readings with your picture books, middle school assignments, and rhetoric courses.
